NOTES FROM NANCY FAYETTE, THE ORIGINAL CREATOR OF THIS MEMORIAL:
Rev Gerald Sharland was the nephew of Jessie and George Sharland, son of George's brother, Alexander.
Jessie was the daughter of Frank and Harriet Fayette Sancomb and born in Chasm Falls, NY. She was the granddaughter of Harrison and Harriet Lucinda Sherwin Fayette and like her grandmother and mother she had a large goiter.
She later married George Sharland, son of Louis and Celia Jette Sharland of Plattsburgh. This marriage took her from the single relationship of niece to Delbert Fayette to a double relationship- that of sister-in-law to Delbert and Rose Sharland Fayette. George was Rose's brother.
Jessie and George had 2 sons. One of them, Louis Floyd, is buried in the Old Base Cemetery. A daughter, Francis Harriet is also buried there. Surviving is Earl was very popular in the early days of radio in Saranac Lake and then Glens Falls.
I guess the biggest thing I remember about her is that as a child she would hold me on her lap and rock me. Back then, rubber skinned dolls were just coming out and she gave me one for my birthday.
