"Romeo, July 27 - Funeral services for Elmer Whiting, 66, who died Monday night from injuries received July 16, in a traffic accident on M-53, three miles north of Romeo, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the family home in Ray Township. Services will be conducted by the Macomb Masonic Lodge, with the Rev. A. T. F. Butt of Romeo Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Romeo Cemetery. Mr. Whiting was a life-long resident and prominent farmer of Ray Township. He is survived by his widow and son George and three brothers, Hugh, Mount Clemens, Neil, Richmond, and Edward of Defiance, Ohio." (Port Huron Times Herald July 27, 1932)
