Miss Bertha C. Young, 262 North Washington Street, City, died this morning at 8:10 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital where she had been a surgical patient for two weeks.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Miss Young was a daughter of the late John and Sophia Sauers Young. She attended St. Mary's High School and St. Ann's Academy here and was affiliated with the Bell Telephone Company for 47 years as an operator and a supervisor until her retirement in 1958. Miss Young was a member of St. Nicholas Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are seven nephews, John, Eugene and Francis Smith, all of Wilkes-Barre; Joseph Smith, Forty Fort; Robert Young, Dallas; Harold and William Young, Philadelphia.
Funeral will be held from the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street, City, Friday morning at 9 with a Requiem Mass at 9:30 in St. Nicholas Church, City. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p. m.

Miss Bertha C. Young of 262 North Washington Street, City, was borne to rest from the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street, this morning with a Solemn High Mass of Requiem in St. Nicholas Church.
Officers of the Mass were Right Rev. Msgr. Francis A. Schmidt, celebrant; Rev. George Demuth, deacon, and Rev. Edward Burke, OFM, sub-deacon. Miss Mary Marten was organist.
Msgr. Schmidt conducted the committal services at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Pallbearers; all nephews of the deceased, where John, Francis, Joseph and Eugene Smith, Robert, Harold and William Young.
