Nadia was the only woman among the 154 mass execution victims from the Soviet Union. Her crime of "receiving stolen goods" was from receiving a needed bite to eat from her cousin Ira Volkova, who had stolen packages of food from where she worked at the post office. Ira was hanged on March 22, 1945, and Nadia was arrested at the labor camp where she worked. She was among those forced to march to the Seelhorst cemetery, dig their own graves and be executed. This was on April 6, 1945, four days before the city of Hannover was liberated.
