Johann F. W. "Peter" Anhalt died July 16, 1890 at the age of 75 in Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. He was born on December 9, 1814 to Johann F. "John" and Dorothea "Sophia" Fresdorf Anhalt in Goerzke, Saxony, Prussia (Germany). Peter married Maria Dorothea Schulze in 1837 in Werbig, Germany and she died in January 1841 probably in childbirth. Peter then married Johanna Sophie "Maria" Lobbes in Brandenburg, Germany in April 1841. Sometime in 1855 the family came to America.
On April 16, 1877 they purchased a house at 109 South Third Avenue. Maria lived in this house until her death in 1883. On Dec. 19, 1885 the house was sold to Peter and Maria Anhalt's unmarried daughter Katharine and Peter continued to live there until his death in 1890. Katherine lived in the house tending her father.
