Johanna Sophie "Maria" Lobbes Anhalt died September 19,1883 at the age of 62 in Saint Nazianz, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. She was born March 7, 1821 in Prussia (Germany) to Johann "John" & Maria "Mary" E. Lauendorf Lobbes. She married Johann F. W. "Peter" Anhalt on April 12, 1841 in Lüsse, Lüsse, Zauch-Belzig, Bradenburg "Prussia" Germany. The family departed Germany in 1855 to come to America.
On April 16, 1877 they purchased a house at 109 South Third Avenue. Maria lived in this house until her death in 1883. On Dec. 19, 1885 the house was sold to Peter and Maria Anhalt's unmarried daughter Katharine and Peter continued to live here until his death in 1890. Katherine lived in the house tending her father.
