DRACUT, MA -- Alan Kostka, 75, died Tuesday, September 25th, at the Lowell General Hospital. He served as a Lowell Firefighter for 20 years.

Born in Lowell, MA on December 2, 1936, Alan was the son of the late Stephanie (Miga) and John P. Kostka. He was educated in Lowell and a graduate of Lowell High School class of 1954.

For 20 years, Alan worked as a Lowell Fire Fighter retiring in 1985 as a Lieutenant. After his retirement he worked for the US Post Office for 10 years.

Alan was a member of the Dom Polski Club, the Lowell and Tewksbury Elks, IAFF and the Retired Fire Fighters Association. He was a sports enthusiast and an loyal Boston Braves fan for 65 years and fan of the New England Patriots. He enjoyed gardening, and loved to fish highlighted by his fishing trip to Alaska.

Alan is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, James Kostka and his wife Jennifer of Lowell, Sean Edwards of Lowell, Jennifer Quinlan and her husband Joshua of Hudson, NH, and Shelley Reynolds of Rockland, MA, 8 grandchildren, Tyler and Chase Kostka, Elizabeth, Dylan, Annie Quinlan, and Kyle, Bret and Ella Edwards. He is also survived by his two sisters Marcia Kelleher of Lowell and Patricia Kostka of Dracut, as well as several nieces and nephews, among them Billy Kelleher of Lowell. He was predeceased by his siblings, John and Stephen Kostka and Virginia Martin.

KOSTKA -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, September 27th from 4-8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His funeral Mass will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in Lowell. Anyone attending is asked to meet directly at the Church. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan's name to a charity of ones choice.
