She was the eldest daughter of George Ashwell (1787-1856) native of England, and Elizabeth Walters (1799-1825) native of Wales. Louisa was born on the Ashwell farm in London Tonwship in Middlesex County at Lot 31,Con.4.
On Sept. 6, 1846 she married Timothy Schram (1821-1904) native of Westminster Township in Middlesex County. About 1880 the couple moved from Ontario to Pembina County, ND where they died.
They had six children:
(1) George Ashwell Schram (1847-1924) a Wesleyan Methodist minister, husband of Elizabeth Mary Morgan Platt;
(2) Jeremiah Burwell Schram (1849-1923), husband of Caroline Frances Varley;
(3) William Schram (1851-1914) husband of Barbara Louisa Gosnell;
(4) Mary Elizabeth Schram (1851-1937)(James Stout Hodgins);
(5) Louisa Jane Schram (1856-1936)(James Baker);
(6) Harriet Ann Schram (1861-1885)(John Humble);
(7) Alice Cecelia Schram (1863-1945)(Thomas DeVesey Wilde Detlor); and (John Matatall).
(8) Galbraith Schram (1869-1947) husband of Margaret Mary Schram, a first cousin. They had two sons and two daughters.
