The son of Johannes & Catherine (Schmidt) Bealor, he married Nancy Gilson Thompson August 14, 1852, and fathered Albertha V. (b. 09/26/56), David Grant (b. @1857), John Thompson (b. 08/24/60), James B. (b. 06/09/62, d. 02/12/64), and Budd Gilson (b. 11/04/66). He is not found in the 1860 census but is in the 1863-65 draft registration as a farmer residing in Juniata Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 11" tall and had dark hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of thirty-seven in Harrisburg September 3, mustered into federal service that day as a private with Co. E, 208th Pennsylvania Infantry, but promoted to sergeant September 8. He honorably discharged with his company June 1, 1865.

After the war, he moved to Allegheny County where he worked as an auctioneer and fruit merchant and died in Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh). He had been a member of Wilson Post No. 134, G.A.R. located in Mifflintown, Juniata County.
