Joseph was the last of 7 children born to Mathias and Rose Mary (Angele) Berwanger. He died just shy of his 4th birthday from something like Tuberculosis, if I recall correctly. There are virtually no records of him in the family files except for 4 photos and what little I remember my Dad (his brother) telling me.
