After the death of Willie Hooks, Myrtle Hooks married Bains Scott.

At an early age, she affiliated with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and later with the St. John Baptist Church of Avalon, Texas.

At the time of her demise, she was a patient at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas.

At her homegoing services, the eulogy was delivered by Rev. Robert L. Wingham: "The Christian's Future Reward" II Timothy 4:7
