Haymond was the son of Williams and Mary (Wilmoth) Coberly. He had siblings; Eliza, Caroline, Elizabeth, Joseph, Nancy, and Edmond Coberly. He also had a half-brother Andrew Jackson Wilmoth.

Haymond married May 13, 1868 Barbour County, West Virginia, Catharine Rinehart. They had children; Louisa, James Franklin, Mary Evaline, Hester Anne Vinora, Ada Belle, and Effa Dellie Coberly.

Hamond was a Private in Company F., 15th Regiment West Virginia Volunteer Infantry. He received a gunshot wound to the left side in the line of duty at Snicker's Ferry, Virginia in 1864. He was six feet tall.

West Virginia death record shows his remains were removed to Junior, West Virginia, Barbour County for burial.
