Vern Batterson was born to Marilla Gifford and David Batterson. When they died young of TB, Vern and his sister were raised by an Uncle. Vern went into the army for a while and then lived with family where he fell in love with my Great Great Grandma Ellen. They had children and made thier lives together until Verns unexpected death in 1958.

Vern died after a serious heart attack and Ellen went on to live till 1967. I have a photo of myself with my Mother, my Grandmother, Grandpa Harry and Ellen. They were very much in love and stayed that way till the end.
In 1915 when her twins, George and Mary were born, they lived next door to George Armstrong Custers widow. She named the twins after George and Mary Custer at Mary Custers request.
