St. Nazianz – Death claimed Mrs. Anton Burkard on Saturday at her home, 1 ½ miles from St. Nazianz, after a lingering illness with dropsy.

The deceased, nee Elizabeth Heinzen, was born Nov. 19, 1855, in the town of Eaton, and was married in 1886 to Anton Burkard, the couple later making their home on a farm where she lived 31 years. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Sodality of St. Gregory’s church and had many friends, who deeply deplore her death.

She is survived by her husband and five children, namely; Mrs. P. Platten, Clara, Carolina, Rosa and Peter at home. She also leaves eight brothers and five sisters.

The funeral services were held at St. Gregory’s church Tuesday morning, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Deibele officiated.
