Dies at 48

Dr. Norman Lamont, 48, of 3437 Cloverdale Lane, a technical assistant for Texas Pacific Oil Co., Ins. died here Saturday.

A native of New Orleans, La., he had been a Dallas area resident nine years.

Before he came to Dallas, Lamont was an assistant professor in the department of petroleum engineering at the University of Texas, chairman of the School of Engineering at the University of Corpus Christi, and Aassistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech University.

He also had been senior staff reservoir engineer with Atlantic Richfield Co., Managing Director of Environmental Improvement Co., and a consultant to DeGolyer and MacNaughton Consultants.

He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Louisiana State University and his doctorate from the University of Texas. He was a member of Sigma Gamma Epsilon and Sigma Xi fraternities.

An Army veteran of World War II, Lamont was chairman of the Dallas Society of Petroleum Engineers and former president of the Dallas Society of Professional Well Log Analysts. He was a member of Ridgeview Presbyterian Church, Golf Executives of Brookhaven Country Club, Lancers Club, and Brookhaven Golf Association.

Survivors: wife and two daughters of Dallas; a sister of New Orleans, La., and a brother of Baton Rouge, La.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Restland Funeal Chapel Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
