Christel, Mary nee Stahl (May 23, 1849-Sept. 21, 1931 –second wife of Richard Christel [married Feb. 6, 1869 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –daughter of Joseph Anton Stahl [born Karlsberg, Baden] and Walburga Kast [born Baden] –born Seckach, Adelsheim, Baden –immigrated to the US with her parents in 1852, arriving at the port of New Orleans in Oct. of 1852 –died from “carcinoma of stomach”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 1, Lot 9 –stone] [marriage record Manitowoc 4-30] [death record Manitowoc 26-594]

Mrs. Christel of St. Nazianz Dies After An Illness
St. Nazianz - Mrs. Richard Christel, aged 82, resident here for many years, died at 2 a.m. today at the home of her son, Joe W. Christel, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Christel was born in Germany May 21, 1849 and came here at the age of 3 years with her parents, who settled in St. Nazianz. Mrs. Christel, nee Mary Stahl, was married to Mr. Christel at St. Nazianz Feb. 6, 1888. She was a member of the Christian Mothers' Sociality and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christel, six of whom are living. They are: two daughters, Mrs. Jack Krupp of St. Ann and Mrs. Katie Fimon of St. Nazianz; four sons, Joe W. Christel and Albert of St. Nazianz and Henry and Edward, who live near New Holstein. A brother, Frank Stahl of Wisconsin Rapids, 29 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Christel preceded his wife in death six years ago.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Gregory's church at St. Nazianz with the Rev. Holzknecht officiating.
