Christel, Rudolph Theodore (Rudy) (Oct. 28, 1892-Aug. 1, 1975 –husband of Minnie Quante [1902-1984] –married Feb. 19, 1924 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton –son of Wendel Christel and Christina Kaiser –born Town of Eaton –for the short period of Sept. 14 to Nov. 13, 1922 owned his father’s former farm at 8734 Greendale Road in Section 35, Town of Eaton –sold this farm to his brother Joseph Christel –owner-operator of Rudy’s Bar at 105 North Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz –operated this bar from the mid-1930’s until his death in 1975–on Oct. 18, 1928 purchased the house on the hill overlooking the Village to the northeast of the intersection of County A and C –along with this house were some 4 acres –Rudolph then opened a service station at 105 North Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz –in 1936, after prohibition, this service station was expanded into a tavern –in 1942, abandoned the house on the hill and moved into newly built living quarters above the tavern at 105 North Fourth Avenue –Rudolph lived in this house and ran this tavern until his death in 1975 –his widow Minnie continued to live at this location until selling to her son Robert Christel on Oct. 6, 1983 –about 1984 the abandoned house on the hill [abandoned since 1942] was burned, with only the fieldstone foundation remaining –“While behind the bar at age 82, Rudy died of a stroke in August 1975.” –died from “coronary thrombosis –myocardial”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 5, Row 3, Lot 14] [marriage record Manitowoc 18-493] [death record Manitowoc 75-656]

RUDOLPH "RUDY" CHRISTEL, 82, of St. Nazianz, died Friday night at his home.
Born October 28, 1893, in the Town of Eaton, he was a son of the late Wendel and Christen Kaiser Christel.
He married Minnie Quante on February 19, 1924 at St. Nazianz.Mr. Christel operated Rudy's Bar in St. Nazianz the past 40 years.(Survivors omitted for privacy)
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, St. Nazianz, and at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, the Reverend Cyril Dickrell, pastor, was the celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
