Gutman, Helen (April 18, 1885-May 15, 1964 –single –daughter of John Gutman and Christina Pfefferle –born in Town of Liberty – “Helen was physically impaired from birth because of a congenital hip problem. She was an apprentice to a dressmaker and was an excellent seamstress. Through the years, Helen was kept busy with dressmaking, mending, needlework and helping with the meals [at the Lake View Tavern].” –from The Sesquicentennial Book, page 94 –died from “hypertensive heart disease –nephritis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 4, Row 9, Lot 27] [death record Manitowoc 59-314]

HELEN GUTMAN

Miss Helen Gutman, 79, of St. Nazianz, died Friday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. William Dietrich of St. Nazianz. She had been an invalid and in a wheelchair the past 25 years.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Christianson Funeral home, St. Nazianz, and 9:45 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, the Rev. Denis Cooney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Miss Gutman was born April 18, 1885, in the Town of Liberty, daughter of the late John and Christina Pfefferle Gutman. She was a life long member of St. Gregory parish.
Surviving are a brother, William Gutman of St. Nazianz; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Broeckert and Mrs. Dietrich of St. Nazianz.
