Playford Watson (Jum) Allison, 58, former Deputy Sheriff of Greene County, and lifelong resident of the Carmichaels community, died unexpectedly at 1:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 1953, of a heart attack. Born July 27, 1895, in Cumberland township, he was a son of Albert A. & Cora Allison, and was one of the most widely known residents of the Carmichaels community. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels and a charter member of the Carmichaels and Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Company, with which he had been affiliated for 30 years. He was married December 21, 1915 to Isabell Rush of Khedive, who survives, with two sons and a daughter; Stanley Allison of Carmichaels, Mrs. Edna McCann, wife of Howard McCann of Philadelphia and Sgt. Carl Allison with the U.S. Army in Korea. He also leaves one sister, Ethel Allison of Carmichaels, and four grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Condit Funeral Home in Carmichaels but funeral arrangements were incomplete last night.
