James A. Wallander, age 69, of 106 W. Court St., St. Nazianz, died Friday morning, Aug. 5, 2005, at his residence.
Jim was born June 4, 1936, in the town of Cato, son of the late Alvin and Margaret McCulley Wallander. He was a graduate of Valders High School, class of 1954. On May 2, 1959, he married the former Luella Baumgartner at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Jim was employed at the Mirro Company for many years. He was a member of the Lions Club of St. Nazianz and enjoyed baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his wife: Luella Wallander, St. Nazianz; two daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Mike Benzschawel, Manitowoc; Julie and Todd Laabs, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jay and LaNaeh Wallander, Appleton; Lee and Kim Wallander, Sun Prairie; three grandsons: Steven Laabs and his fiancée, Abbey Gutman; Michael Laabs; Matthew Laabs; 10 brothers and sisters-in-law and sisters and brother-in-law: Mary Joan and Al Haefke, Glenview, Ill.; Sister Margaret Ann Wallander, Manitowoc; Jerry and Karen Wallander, Madison; Jeanne and Henry Shimek, Reedsville; Jack Wallander, Nevada; Judy and John Jacobs, California; Dorothy and Wayne Dirkman, Colorado; Eve and Richard Engelbrecht, Cottage Grove; Donna and Richard Quinn, Florid; Richard and Barbara Wallander, California; a sister-in-law: Jane Wallander, Whitelaw; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Francis and Phyllis Baumgartner, Genoa City; Melvin and Pat Baumgartner, St. Nazianz. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Bill Wallander and Chuck Wallander; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Genevieve and Erwin Baumgartner.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, from 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, until the time of service at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial was the Rev. Gregory Coulthard with burial at St. Gregory Catholic Church Cemetery.
The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
