Loyd Ernest "Robbie" Roberson, age 90, of St. Louis, MI died Friday, September 21, 2012 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M.
Loyd was born in Elwell, Michigan on February 24, 1922, the son of Clyde and Elanor (Whitfield) Roberson. He married Arlene R. Alspaugh on March 27, 1943 in Elwell, MI. Robbie served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a machine operator and in maintenance at Alma Products, retiring in 1984 after nearly 35 years of service. Robbie enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. He was an excellent bowler and loved playing and watching baseball.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Arlene Roberson of St. Louis, MI, 2 sons; Ron Roberson of Grand Haven, MI, and Rodney Roberson of Linden, MI, granddaughter Misty and Jason McGee of Clarkston, MI, and 5 great grandchildren; Nicholas & Abbey Roberson and Courtney, Chellsey & Daniel Raysby. In addition to his parents, Loyd was preceded in death by grandson Shane Roberson, 2 sisters; Audrey Roberson and Anna Fox and 3 brothers; Jim, Earl and Harold Roberson.
