Believed to be a daughter of Peter and Anna GREENE Hallock. Abigail was likely born on Long Island, New York where her parents resided.

In the book titled "Pioneer and Patriot Families of Bradford County, Pennsylvania", by Clement F. Heverly, there is a family story about William and Abigail. Paraphrased, the story tells of William's enlistment in the American Army, and while stationed on Long Island, New York, he was detailed as sergeant of a detachment to guard the property of Mr. Hallock, a wealthy Quaker. Hallock had a fine well and a guard was placed around it that it might not be polluted. While Sergeant Furman was on duty here, the Quaker's daughter, Abby, brought him a large gourd that he might dip water from the bucket to drink and fill the canteens. He at once fell in love with the Quaker maid. The stern old Quaker would not permit his daughter to wed a soldier. Abigail and William eloped and were married in New York. Abigail never saw nor heard from any of her family after her marriage and always mourned for her friends.

Abigail married William Furman, in 1778, in New York. She was 21 years of age at the time of her marriage and William was 30 years of age. Abigail gave birth to at least 8 children named Elizabeth, John, Peter, Nancy, Sarah, Polly, Martha, and Abigail Furman. All of her children except Nancy lived out their lives in Bradford County; Nancy died in Mahoning Co., Ohio.

Abigail's husband died in 1817, aged about 59 years. She lived for another 31 years after his death. The 1830 and the 1840 census records of the household of her son-in-law, Conklin Baker, at Troy Twp., Bradford County lists a female of Abigail's age.

Abigail died aged about 92 years.
