Fred Hubka, son of Amos Hubka and Anna Novotny Hubka was born January 30, 1888 at DuBois, Nebraska and passed away April 23, 1962 at Cassville, Missouri, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 23 days. He received his education in the public school system in Nebraska.

Fred married Frances Veroda and two sons were born to this union, Garland and Rowland. He moved to Kansas in 1900 and lived most of his life around the Narka and Cuba communities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Frances and one son Garland, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

He is survived by his wife Mabel and son Rowland of Cedar Rapid, Crete, Neb., brothers, Bowman of Morrowville, Kan., August of Belleville and Rudy of Humboldt, Neb. and sister Mrs. Millie Podojil of Handford, Calif.; one grandchild and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were conducted Friday, April 27 at 2 o'clock by Rev. Maurice Graham at the Narka National Cemetery.

Fred was in a band with his other brothers called "The Hubka EIGHT BROTHERS BAND." The Belleville Telescope, April 6, 1922 issue had this article about them.

Made up entirely of eight brothers, the Hubka Bros. band, near Narka.- The band was organized in 1908 with Stanley Hubka as leader, and maintained its original organization since the personel of the band and the instruments played are as follows, Top row left to right: Stanley Hubka, Bb solo cornet; Fred Hubkla, 2nd cornet; Bohumil Hubka, solo Bb clarinet; Charlie Hubka, Eb clarinet; Lower row, left to right: Amos Hubka, Eb bass; Rudolph Hubka, Eb alto; August Hubka, solo alto; and Lloyd Hubka, Eb baritone.
