Mrs. Stella Martin, age 81, of Wyandotte, Mich., the daughter of the late John
and Charity Tompkins Baker, was born in Knox County February 17, 1893, and died
in the Riverside Hospital, Trenton, Mich., Friday July 26, 1974. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church, Allegan, Mich. She married William Frank
Martin and to this union twelve children were born. Her husband and three
children preceded her in death. Survivors include seven sons, Charles Martin,
Gawood Martin, Jack Martin, Kenneth Martin, Bobby Martin and Gus Martin; two
daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Hill and Mrs. Taft Price; one sister, Mrs. Idella
Smith; 32 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 12 great great
grandchildren. Mrs. Martin also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to
mourn her passing. Graveside services were conducted at the Hutchinson Cemetery,
Monday, July 29, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ernest Boggs officiating. Interment was
in the Hutchinson Cemetery with Hopper Funeral Home in charge. Friends and
neighbors served as pallbearers.
