The obituary of her sister, Margaret (Beveridge) Evans (1854-1924), Findagrave #127638325, says that their mother died when Margaret was about two. Soon after, their father James moved the girls and older brother, also named James, to Hinckley, Illinois, where Margaret was adopted into the family of Thomas & Mary (Cone) Evans. In the 1860 census, Isabella can be found on the previous page to Margaret, with Mary Cone's parents, Archibald Conn/Cone & Rosetta "Rosa" Cunningham. She was still with them in 1870, and married Thomas Appleby in 1874.
