Marie Politis, 84, of Carey Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at home.
She was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Michael and Helen Casper Sakelaridos and was a 1934 graduate of Meyers High School.
Mrs. Politis was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre and a former member of Ladies Philoptochos Society.
Before retiring she was employed by Empire Dress Company as a seamstress and was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. She also worked for General Aviation.
Her husband, Ignatius, died Feb. 26, 1997.
Surviving are son, Paul, McConnellsburg; daughter Elaine Rash, Plains; three grandchildrden; brothers, James Saks, Scranton; Michael Sakelaridos, Leesburg, Fla.; Joseph Sakelaridos, Wilkes-Barre; sisters Bess Lion, Tonawanda, N.Y.; Sophie Pappas and Irene Rowe, both of Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.
The funeral procession will leave Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, Thursday at 10:30. Services will be held at 11 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, East Ross Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. George Dimopoulos will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday, 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
