John Hetzler born 1831 in Bavaria, Germany. He died on 16-Oct-1883 in Rochester, NY at Age 52. He married Pauline Landrock about 1853 in Rochester, NY. She was born in 1833 in Saxony, Germany. She died Nov-1913 in Rochester, NY. John Hetzler was buried at Holy Family Cemetery in 1883. Record of his death and burial are of record at that time with S.S. Peter and Paul Church of Rochester (LDS Film 1432395), Book 3, Deaths Book 16, Page 45.

The Diocese of Rochester consolidated many Roman Catholic Cemeteries to the newer Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Holy Family Cemetery was one of the relocations. Prior to the Holy Family Church, Holy Family Cemetery was part of the S.S. Peter and Paul Church, and predated 1860. Many graves by 1955 had no available written record, were unmarked, unknown or not recorded. The only known record of John Hetzler's burial is the listing of Holy Family, as his place of interment, with his death entry in the S.S. Peter and Paul Church record book of that time.

In 1955, Holy Family Church needed assistance to relocate the burials from their cemetery. Herman G Hetzler, who provided large support to the Diocese, provided the necessary labor, equipment and services of two Archaeologist to assist the church with these relocations. As grandson of Herman G Hetzler, I have now realized my grandfather likely facilitated the move of his grandfather's grave to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. My dad watched the equipment working also. My Dad never knew, if grandpa knew he would have made a bronze plaque at his foundry, but I do not believe either one knew that 2nd Great grandfather John Hetzler was relocated by them. No headstones, no records, until I put records and actions together.

John Hetzler arrived in Rochester with his father and siblings (except Valentine who arrived previously) in Jan, 1853, from Bavaria, Germany. John's occupation: was that of a Tailor. He maintained his home and shop at the corners of Grape Street and Romeyn Street.

John Hetzler and Pauline Landrock had the following children:
