Charles spent his youth in Leeds and Industry, Maine, moving to Lowell, Mass around his mid teens. He married Clara Luella Reed 21 June 1879. Clara died on 24 Aug 1880 Charles married second, Mary kennedy 8 June 1881 in Lowell. By 1900 they were living in Nashua, NH. According to his obit, Charles was employed by the Jackson Mills and "one of the best known men in the city".
