A fractured hip suffered in a fall in her home Feb. 7 caused the death of Mrs. John Sykes, 79, Milton Junction, in Mercy Hospital at noon Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Sykes observed their 58th wedding anniversary Tuesday, Feb. 8. Mrs. Sykes was blind and had been in failing health for the past several years.
Formerly Carrie May Coon, she was born at Indian Ford, Dec. 28, 1858, and was married to John Sykes, former Janesville resident, in Brodhead in 1880 by the Rev. Mr. Lincoln.
She is survived by her husband; five children, Charles H. Sykes, Cameron, Mrs. Jennie Hill, Rapid City, S. D., Mrs. Dora Rinehart and Robert Sykes, both of Milton Junction, and Mrs. Edna Fish, Janesville.
