The 1910 census of the Manitowoc County Insane Asylum lists John Brost, age 57, as being a patient. His mother, Mathilda's 1913 will states, John as an "insane person" and that his sister, Margaret Michalek, as his guardian to be in charge of his trust for his funeral and burial expenses . This will does list Mary Wagner , Katie Brost and Nic Brost as step -children
