Katherine Steffen, age 90, of 12130 Marken Road, Kiel (School Hill), died peacefully Friday evening, February 27, 1998, at the family cottage at Kelly Lake (rural Suring, Wis.)
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, with Rev. Gerald Sirois, S.D.S. and Katherine's son, Deacon Jim Steffen, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The former Katherine Binversie was born October 23, 1907, daughter of the late William and Regina (Schuler) Binversie. On October 7, 1930, she married Raymond
Steffen at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. The couple celebrated their Golden wedding anniversay (sic) in 1980. Raymond preceded her in death on February 2, 1983. Katherine was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Women's Organization. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Katherine enjoyed card games, fishing and boating at Kelly Lake, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her love, kindness and generous spirit.
Survivors include seven children, Josephine (Donald) Moss, Manitowoc, Carol Heinzen, Kiel, Donald (Rosemary) Steffen, Sheboygan, James Steffen, Kiel, Michael
(Marilyn) Steffen, New Holstein, Lambert (Patricia) Steffen, Kiel, and Lawrence (Darlene) Steffen, Kiel; 17 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 18 great-
grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Kirsch, Kiel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; eight sisters; four sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and one son-in-law, Roman Heinzen.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstead Funeral Home, 815 Sixth St., Kiel, from 4-8 p.m. Monday (TODAY), and at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. A parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday (TONIGHT), led by her son, Deacon James Steffen.
A Memorial has been established in Katherine's name.
