PEORIA HEIGHTS - Edgar J. Masters, 91, of Peoria Heights died at
1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Rosewood Care Center of Peoria.
Born Nov. 17, 1910, in Bakersville, N.C., to Theron and Nancy
Oaks Masters, he married Ida Hartter on Nov. 27, 1941, in Peoria. She
died Feb. 28, 1993, in Peoria.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Nadine Gerber,
one grandson, five brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie (and Ken) Barber of Dunlap;
two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald and
Bert (and Lois), both of Peoria Heights, and John (and Marilyn) of North
Carolina; and one sister, Dora (and Herb) Widdows of Peoria Heights.
He was a World II Army veteran.
He worked as a cook at Hunt's Drive Inn in Peoria for 47 years,
retiring in 1974.
He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria,
where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Mike Shirey will
officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Arrangements are by
Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
