I was born in San Diego, but left within 2 years to follow my father's assignments with the U.S. Navy through my growing up. The McDermotts had arrived in Onondaga County, NY, at the end of the potato famine, about 1850. Using all resources to learn from WHERE in Ireland they came, so far, to no avail. The first 2 generations are buried in Onondaga, and from there we flourished throughout the world. My mother's family started with 2 arrivals from Germany in about 1850. It's took them no time to move into the Elizabeth/Roselle area of New Jersey, where most of the first 2 generations are buried. Haven't managed the jump from the US back to Bavaria yet.Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
