Bio

My dad was raised in Huntington WV. His father was born and raised in Boone Co, WV and I find he had many half siblings who stayed there and some other half siblings or full siblings that lived and died in Raleigh Co or Cabell Co. My dad's mother was a Hatfield from Logan Co and her father was born in Pike Co, KY. We descend from the KY side of the Hatfields and directly from Preacher Anse who was my 3x great grandfather. Preacher Anse presided over my great grandparent's wedding. I grew up in California and have lived all over. In Nov 2017 I went to TN, WV, KY, VA for the first time on a road trip with my dad, my wife, my step mom. It was for genealogy. I drove on many a dirt mountain road where I should of had 4WD looking for cemeteries. People were very friendly, especially they seemed to understand the common desire to look for ancestors. I spent a few days each at the state libraries in KY, WV, VA and found some new genealogy facts. I drove around the hollers looking for graves and discovered I did not plan well enough to find the cemeteries in Boone Co, and Raleigh Co etc. but I will keep trying online to piece together the puzzle. I will go back some day as new places are on my Bucket List.br /My granddaddy's side has Cooks, Powells, Pettrys, Cantleys, Jarrells, Stewarts, Clays, Belchers, Bradfords and more. My grandmommy's side had Chaffins (Devil Anse's wife's sister), Acords, Carters, O'Neals and more.
