**If you want a family memorial transferred to you, please use the "Contact manager" button at the bottom of a memorial edit page **

I live in Auckland, New Zealand (NZ) and travel often. We love going to out-of-the-way small cemeteries and photographing all the memorials, knowing it may help families in the future.

Both my husband and I spent over 20 years each in the NZ military (Air Force and NZ Army) and focus on military graves. For historic NZ personnel military information, you may find the following links helpful:

*AUCKLAND WAR MEMORIAL MUSEUM ONLINE CENOTAPH. A work in progress of deceased NZ servicemen and women, along with enlistment information: http://www.aucklandmuseum.com/war-memorial/online-cenotaph/search

*ARCHIVES NZ have in-depth information free and online, including pay documents, enlistment medical info, wills, probate, etc. A work in progress: https://www.archway.archives.govt.nz

*NATIONAL LIBRARY of NZ have old newspapers and other documents available for viewing free online. Search by name, address or topic at:
https://natlib.govt.nz

*NZ BIRTH, DEATHS & MARRIAGES REGISTER. You can find basic information for free. Detailed certificates are charged. View at:
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search

*AUCKLAND COUNCIL ONLINE BURIAL/CREMATION DATABASE for council-administered cemeteries only (not fully complete and sometimes contains transcription errors). Most NZ councils have something similar, and some have headstone photos linked to their records. For Auckland view:
