Swede Valley

Swede Valley Lutheran Church was founded by Swedish immigrants in the 1870's and they were originally located in Moingona, Iowa worshiping in homes. They were granted land in Marcy township which is south of Ogden, Iowa and built a beautiful church with a cemetery next to it. Many worship services, baptisms, weddings, confirmations, and funerals were conducted there for over 100 years. Due to declining parishioners the church was merged with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa. Swede Valley is still used today during the month of June for the congregation of Immanuel and also during the rest of the year for wedding, baptisms, and Christmas caroling.
