379th Bombardment (H)

This cemetery is for the men in my cousin's flight crew. They were members of the 379th Bombardment, 527 Bomb Squad, 8th Airforce, that flew during WWII, and on November 26, 1943 their plane was shot down. There were 10 members of the crew; Four members were taken as POWs and held at Stalag Luft 1 prison until their liberation on April 30, 1945. The other 6 members were KIA, their remains were recovered with their plane. In the report that was taken in 1945, my cousin Lt. Malarin, wrote that if the Army found out any information for the other members of his crew, to please let him know. This is my way of trying to honor that request, and uniting his crew here. While Lt. Malarin was at Stalg Luft 1 he made friends with two other American soldiers whom were shot down on the same day, and taken prisoner. Lt. Robert Jackson and Lt. J. Henry Thayer, both of the 305th Bombardment, 364th Bomb Squad, 8th Airforce. I have added them here are well.
