From the Baldwin County Courthouse, go east on Hancock Street and follow Highway 24 Southeast for 13.9 miles. Locked metal gates on the right side of the highway mark the entrance. The cemetery is 1.3 miles from Hwy 24 - not visible from the gates and not accessible to the public. Seven graves have been identified in the Whitaker Grave Yard. There are many sunken areas indicating more people are buried there. The cemetery was last cleaned on February 26, 2005, by a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization known as the Baldwin County Cemetery Association. They are no longer in business. With the help of one of the organizers, I saw the cemetery on March 28, 2013. It is on hunting grounds and is on land that James Cantey once owned. He, Hudson Whitaker, and Francis Boykin were related, owned land within 3 miles of one another near the Oconee River. The Whitaker Grave Yard is being taken over by the forest.
