Leroy A. "Shorty" Breit, 88, of Kiel died peacefully on Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013 at Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein.He was born on June 5, 1925 in Chilton, son of the late Peter & Pauline (Gruber) Breit.He attended school in New Holstein.Shorty was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving his country during World War II in the Phillipines and Ford Island, HI.On September 27, 1950 he married Georgianna "Anna" Wendling at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2000.Georgianna preceded him in death on October 2, 2002.Shorty had previously been employed in Chilton as a Heating & Cooling Technician. From 1960 until his retirement in 1988 he was employed at HUI, Household Utilities, Kiel, as a job supervisor.He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the Kiel VFW Post #6707.Shorty enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and was a member of the Kiel leagues. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, spending winters in Arizona and visiting with his friends at McDonalds with the Retirement Club.Survivors include his sons, Donald (Debra) Breit, Valders, Dennis (Germaine) Breit, Kiel, six grandchildren: Craig, (Tami) Breit, Newton, Rachael Breit, Sheboygan, Brad Breit & fiance, Gina White, Fond du Lac, Chadd (Denielle) Breit, Fort Irwin, CA, Amelia (Steven) Rach, New Holstein and Barry Breit, Milwaukee. He is further survived by great grandchildren; Jordan, Anaih, Samuel, Patricia & Brenden and in-laws, Rudy Wendling, Janet Wendling, Marie Kienbaum, Sylvia Anhalt, Dolores (Tony) Kauth, Nancy (Robert) Wier, Barbara (John) Schwind, Diane (Tom) Twohig, Elsie Arnold, Charlotte Dedering, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents,wife, two brothers; Roland (Lorina) Breit, Harold Breit. sister, Ginny (Darrell) Gasch, great grandchild and many in-laws.Entombment will take place in Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
