STREATOR — Thomas Salata, Sr., 50, died suddenly at 10:30 o'clock last evening after suffering a heart attack in his home at 1007 Jackson street. While he had been under treatment for a heart condition, he was up and around as usual and offered no complaint of illness.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Pouk, to whom he was married in 1914 at St. Stephen's church by Msgr. Louis L. Biskupski and the following children: Mrs. Clement (Ann) Guyon, Andrew Salata, Mrs. Rudy (Helen) Gayon, Jr., Thomas Salata, Jr., and Mary Ann Salata, all at home. There are five grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and five sisters: Mrs. Susan Kotansky, Mrs. Andrew (Anna) Katchmar and Mrs. Mary Wargo, Slovakia, and Andrew, John and George Salata of Streator. A brother, Michael, preceded him in death in 1936.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Salata, hew as born on Oct. 3, 1891, in Slovakia, coming to Streator at the age of 20, and spending the remaining years of his life here. He was employed by the Owens-Illinois Glass company, and was a member of St. Stephen's church and St. Stephen's lodge.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Hudachko chapel, and at 9 o'lock at St. Stephen's church. Burial will be in the new St. Stephen's cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 12 noon Tuesday. The rosary will be said at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening.

STREATOR — A solemn requiem high mass was conducted over the remains of Thomas Salata in St. Stephen's church at nine o'clock Wednesday morning, during which Rev. George Dzuryo acted as celebrant, Rev. J. Prokuski as deacon and Rev. William Wozniak as sub-deacon. Rev. Dzuryo delivered the sermon and also officiated at the graveside rites in the new St. Stephen's cemetery. A brief prayer by Rev. Dzuryo was heard in the Hudachko funeral home preceding the removal of the body to the church.

Pallbearers were Raymond Salata, Thomas Salata, Edward Salata, John Salata, Raymond Katchmar and Ralph Wargo. The following attended the services from a distance: Mrs. Susan Mihalko, Mrs. J. H. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Natt Tandornich [Matt Tonkovich], Gary, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. George Salata and daughter, Ruth Ann, Fort Madison, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Salata and family, Peoria; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Salata and family, Chillicothe; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Salata and son, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Salata and son, Frank Salata, Andrew Wargo and Andrew Danko, Chicago, and Mrs. Emma Mayercin, Danville.
