Elizabeth is the oldest child of William Robert "Willie" Scott & Ava Mignon Ervin, born in Crystal Springs, Copiah County, Mississippi in 1912. She moved with the family in 1925 to Santa Rosa, Texas, when she was 13. She was 37 when she married John Watson Caudill on August 18, 1950, in the First Baptist Church of Santa Rosa, Texas. They had one child during their marriage. She died on October 29, 1977, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 64, and interred at the Seaside Memorial Park there.
