The funeral of Mrs. Virginia Tipton of 1009 North Walnut street, whose death occurred Monday afternoon at St. John's Hospital, was held at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the undertaking parlors of T. C. Smith's Sons, the Rev. J. J. Dugan officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Decedent was born July 17, 1843, on the old Fox farm south of Springfield. Later she moved to Springfield with the family and kept house for her father. She was exceptionally kind hearted and and of a cheerful disposition, always seeing the bright side of life. She was a life-long member of the Methodist church. May 1, 1879, she was united in marriage to John B. Tipton at Peoria, Ill., by the Rev. E. B. England.
Surviving are her husband, John B. Tipton, one brother and two sisters, L. B. Fox of Englewood, N. J., Mrs. Caroline D. Carswell of this city and Mrs. Amanda Pease of Waldon, Colo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
