ELMER C. KOLBE
(1914 - 2010)

Elmer C. Kolbe, age 95, of the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary, formerly of Chilton, was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010.

He was born July 12, 1914, in Charlestown, son of the late Joseph and Martha (Reiser) Kolbe. Elmer married Helen Bogenschutz on Sept. 10, 1940, at St. Wendell Catholic Church in Cleveland. The couple farmed together in the town of Charlestown, and Elmer was accredited as a certified seed grower. Helen preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2006. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and the Charlestown Catholic Knights branch where he had served as president for several years. Elmer was also very active in the Chilton Eagles Club and was instrumental in the construction of their current building. Elmer took his civic duties very seriously and volunteered countless hours at the Charlestown Town Hall assisting voters during election time.

Survivors include his children: Mary Rowlette of Middleton; Rosanne (Edward) Schneiderwent of Sheboygan; five grandchildren: Christine and Joe Rowlette, Katrina, Christopher and Ryan Schneiderwent; a sister: Lorraine Geiser; and two brothers: Clem and Leo Kolbe. Elmer is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Helen; a sister: Hildegard Weller; and a brother: Hugo Kolbe.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 54 E. Main St., Chilton, with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Entombment will be in the Knollwood Mausoleum.

Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home, 411 W. Main St., Chilton, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, and on Monday at the Church from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. An Eagles Service, Rosary and Parish Vigil service will be held Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
