Ard G. Emery was a photographer. Named after his maternal grandfather, Ard Godfrey, a prominent millright in Orono, Maine. Ard is the third of five sons, of Temple Hosea and Diana (Godfrey) Emery. He was born in Orono, Maine. He had photography businesses in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from 1862-1874. He moved to Junction City Kansas in 1880. Bay City, Michigan in 1891. East Tawas from 1892-1904. Elizabeth Tennessee 1905-1910.
His final years were spent in the Masonic Home in Alma, Michigan.
