Funeral services for Thomas Andrew Todd, 82, whose death occurred August 28 at the Masonic Home near Minneapolis, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Masonic hall in this city, Rev. Chas. Swindells of Laporte officiating. Members of the lodge and Eastern Star chapter attended in a body.
Pallbearers were W. P. Smith, A. C. Onstad, M. E. Smith, R. R. Barstosch, and A. W. Stone. Honorary pall bearers were E. E. Bonham, Theo. Wegian, Henry Stevens, C. F. Scheers, J. A. Gutzler, M. E. Stephens, L. H. Rice, G. H. Cram, W. D. Andrews, A. M. Way, and E. B. Sullivan.

Burial was made in the family lot in Greenwood cemetery with Masonic rites. H. O. Folkestad was in charge.

Born July 1, 1858 in Nashua, Iowa, a son of Smith and Miranda Todd, Thomas attended school there and Sunday school in the "Little Brown Church in the Vale." Later he lived in Charles City, Iowa.

The family came to Hubbard county in the early eighties taking a homestead in Todd township, which was named after Smith Todd. The original townsite of Park Rapids is part of the homestead.

December 24, 1885 Mr. Todd was united in marriage to Frances Evelyn Curo in Park Rapids and to them was born five children. The family owned and operated a farm southwest of this city for about 25 years, then built a home in the southeast part of town.
Mr. Todd transferred from the Masonic lodge at Verndale and became one of the charter members of Shell lodge 184 of Park Rapids, his affiliation taking place February 6, 1890. He was appointed the first senior steward and always took an active part in the work. November 28, 1931, he entered the Masonic Home where he resided until his death. He had the distinct honor at attending the Golden Jubilee of Shell lodge last January 16 as the sole surviving charter member. He had been a Mason for sixty years, and was also a life member of of Itasca Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. A. G. Howe (Grace Mabel) of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. C. R. Wilcox (Flora Vern) of San Rafael, Calif., two sons, Burr A. Todd, Auburn, Wash., and Harry Todd, Alexandria, LA., and Mrs. Frances Todd. A son Guy A. Todd died here in 1923. There are three grandchildren, Wayne Berry, Los Angeles, Harry D. Todd Jr., Alexandria, LA and Margaret A. Todd, Auburn, Wash. Mrs. Howe and a brother Burr Todd were the only relatives able to attend the funeral.
