Nellie Arvilla Huston was born October 29, 1871 in Nebraska, the daughter of Daniel Austin and Mary A. (Hawk) Huston.

Nellie married George Edmond "Ed" Austin on December 25, 1890 in Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraska. Ed was born February 8, 1860, in New London, Campbell County, Virginia, the son of Reverand Thomas Lovatt and Martha N. (Ward) Austin. Nellie and Ed did not have any natural born children but they did adopt two daughters:

1. Dorothy Mae Austin (1909-2000)
2. Lucy Roberta (Austin) Downey (1913-2012)

Nellie and Ed lived in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. Her mother lived the last four years of her life with them until her death on March 26, 1924.

Ed died of heart disease on June 27, 1937, in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. After the death of her husband, Nellie and her two daughters moved to Los Angeles, California in 1938.

Nellie died at home 4131 3rd Ave., Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, on December 5, 1959. She was buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. There is also a cenotaph headstone for Nellie (and another FAG memorial #137786618) in the Wyuka cemetery in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska by her husband.
