Anthony Jon Paglia, 88, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015, at his home in the care of Iowa River Hospice and surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2015, also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with interment following. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #839, and American Legion Posts in the Marshalltown area. A celebration of life will be held following the services at Fisher Community Center.

Born June 27, 1927, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Armando and Rose (Chidichimo) Paglia. Tony Served In Navy during WWII as a Frogman on an Amphibious Transport Ship in the Pacific Ocean. After serving our country Tony went to Work for Charles Switzer Construction, then partnered with Bill Scheffert to form Paglia & Scheffert Construction and eventually his own business, Paglia Construction.

We will remember Tony as a great Storyteller and for his uncanny sense of humor and wit. He had the keen ability to capture your attention when describing the details of his life stories. There was never a project that Tony wouldn’t tackle. He was a Handyman, tinkerer, jack-of-all-trades and most importantly a mentor, sharing his extensive knowledge with friends and family.
Tony enjoyed stock car racing, fishing, antiques, horses, flea marketing. He loved traveling to see family and especially loved his travel to Arkansas, Colorado and California.

He was true example of unconditional love and taught us the importance of family, hard work, kindness, tolerance, generosity, forgiveness and love. He had a strong devotion towards his children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are children Michele Paglia Marshalltown, Angie Paglia McKee (Mike) Nashville, TN, Gregory Paglia, Marshalltown. Siblings Joe (Betty) Paglia, Jim (Betty) Paglia, Ann (Dick) Barlow. Grandchildren Robert McNealy, Omaha, Bryce (Sharon) Leavy, Tim Leavy, Jennifer (Ben) Westphal, Alex McKee and Stephanie McKee, Daughter-in-Law Bernadette Paglia, as well as numerous Great-Grandchildren.

Tony was preceded in death by his son, James Robert; parents, Armando and Rose Chidichimo Paglia; siblings Greg Paglia, Mike Paglia, Frank Paglia, Catherine Paglia Nelson, Margaret Paglia Bachel, Angelina Paglia & Mary Paglia Hambrick.

Funeral services were held for Anthony (Tony) Paglia, 87, of Marshalltown, on Saturday, May 9, 2015, with Pastor John Whitehead officiating. Tony was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert McNeally, Bryce Leavy, Alex, McKee, Ben Westphal, Sharon Leavy, John McKenna, Becky Collins, Pam Wilkening, Wava Kurth, Stephanie McKenna, Justin Davis and Mike Davis.

Groups from Iowa River Hospice, VFW Post #839 and Marshalltown Realtors were present, along with family and friends.

Mitchell Family Funeral was entrusted with caring for Tony and his family.
