Darlena Gilliam Ashworth, 232 Brookside Circle, died Tuesday (April 16, 2002) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Sullivan County (Kingsport), she was a graduate of Lynn View High School in 1952. She was a lover of horses and other animals.
She was a loving wife of 48 years, a loving mother, mother-in-law and also to all her family.
She was a member of Kingsport Baptist Temple.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lucian Gilliam.
Surviving are her husband, Tommy Ashworth, of the home; a daughter, Amy Ashworth Starnes and husband, Ronnie of Kingsport; her mother, Lottie Moore Gilliam, Kingsport; a sister and brother-in-law, Adell Gilliam Frye and husband Cecil of Kingsport; a brother, C.L. Gilliam and wife, Peggy of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m.
Friends may call anytime at the residence, 232 Brookside Circle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ft. Robinson Baptist Church, 2012 Ft. Robinson Drive, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660 or the Kingsport Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 922, Kingsport, Tenn. 37662.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
