A lifelong resident of Sullivan County (Kingsport), she was a graduate of Lynn View High School in 1952. She was a lover of horses and other animals.
She was a loving wife of 48 years, a loving mother, mother-in-law and also to all her family.
She was a member of Kingsport Baptist Temple.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lucian Gilliam.
Surviving are her husband, Tommy Ashworth, of the home; a daughter, Amy Ashworth Starnes and husband, Ronnie of Kingsport; her mother, Lottie Moore Gilliam, Kingsport; a sister and brother-in-law, Adell Gilliam Frye and husband Cecil of Kingsport; a brother, C.L. Gilliam and wife, Peggy of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m.
