Alexander Brown was born in Coalburn, Lesmahagow, Scotland and came to America with his mother and siblings, arriving on Mar. 23, 1926 in New York. The family lived in West Virginia for several years before moving to New York City. He was a gifted musician who performed with a band in New York in the 1930s. He joined the Army and served as a musician during World War II. Afterward he worked as an electrical engineer for a railroad and also entertained at a masonic lodge in New York.
