She was born and raised in Hartford, residing in West Hartford most of her life. Mrs. Allen was a former member and communicant of the church of St. Brigid, West Hartford.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard H. and Dawn M. Allen of Nevis, MN, Robert H. Allen of Warwick, RI and Adrianne Allen of South Windsor; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Arthur and Alice Cody of Bloomfield and Ernest Cody of West Hartford; a sister, Lillian Varley of West Hartford; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Donald E. Allen of South Windsor; two sisters, Rose Dineen and Viola Cody; and a brother, Peter Cody.
The funeral will be Thursday, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9am in the Church of St. Brigid, 1088 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. There will be no calling hours. Donations in memory of Alice may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., PO Box 1004, Meriden, CT.
